What the HECK!!!!!!

Well I managed to finish 3 out of the 4 socks and the lucky recipents seemed to enjoy them. My youngest sister also liked her earflap hat. She's a photo-journalist for NBC News in Charlotte and is outside all the time reporting so that came in handy. :0)
As everyone opened their socks, I explained to my brother that he didn't get a pair of socks because I didn't think that he would wear them. (he's such a picky dresser). Well sister was dead wrong. He told me that he would wear them and that he likes earth-tone colors. What the heck!!!! :0( I totally misjudged this because I really didn't think that Jason would wear knitted socks. I feel so bad because everyone else got a pair but him. So I guess that I have to knit my brother a pair. I don't mind though because I seem to finally have gotten the hang of knitting socks. I am by no means great at this, but I am getting better.

2 Down 1 1/2 more to go!!!!!

Here are my two socks that I managed to finish. The one on the left is for my mom and was knitted with one of my favorite yarns...Woully Boully. The one on the left is for my youngest sister who loves pink so I thought that this yarn was perfect for her. If I can say I am really happy with these socks and I think that they look good.

My Christmas gifts from Zonda

I must say that I have the best friend in the world!!!! Look at what my bestest (yes this is a word, at least for today) knitting buddy got me. Zonda made me a kitty bag so that I can ditch my ziploc bags and carry yarn in style!!! Anyone who had bought a needlecase/totecase from Zonda knows how nice these are. I also got a skein of Yarntini. :0) Thank you sooo much Zonda not only for the thoughtful gifts but also for being such a good friend.
PS. Even Priscilla likes the bag. She told me that she is going to fight me for it. She wants it for all of her toys. :0)

SCHOOL'S OUT!!

Oh my gosh, I am on cloud nine. I teach at a year round school and today was the last day. I could not have lasted one more minute. The kids were out of control. But I had the last laugh because we had our party an hour before school was out so I sent them home all sugared up!!! I am sure all the parents love me. HAHAH
So now we are on our 3 week break!!! SO everybody knows what that means. I can now knit all damn night if I please. I do NOT have to set my alarm fro 4:45 for 3 whole weeks. I am knitting like a wild woman so everyone will get there socks. I may make it, but I will be pulling many late nights. :0) I am going to make my mentor Zonda proud of me when we meet again. :0) She will not belive that this is the same person that she had to draw a picture/diagram for.

Almost There!!

I am almost finished with two socks. Not a pair, but two seperate ones. I am to the decreasing part of the foot, so I should be able to have two socks done by Friday!!!! :0) Then I have to start on my dad's socks and then the dreaded yellow ones that are for my dear sister Michele. As some of you recall, the yellow ones, that have the same personality as my sister caused me such grief and headaches that I am not looking foward to working on this pair. I may need to get liquored up before I attempt to work on this one again. :0) I can't wait to work on my dad's pair because I love all the browns that will be in his sock. I did good on that skein. I'll have to post a picture of the skein so that you all can see what I am rambling about.
Finally attempted to wind a skein of yarn into a ball with my new yarn winder. I was so happy to finally have one that I could't wait to try this contraption out. How hard could this be I asked myself. I saw a guy do this at a local yarnstore. HAHAHAAH that didn't work out to well for me. I tried and tried on two different skeins. One skein is in a ball of mess (didn't tell you that did I Zonda), the other one I can not find the pull out middle part. Just add that to my list of Christine's screw ups. With all the screw ups that I have made I can write a cool book that would go on to be a best seller. It would't be me if I didn't have so many funny experiences to share with people. Off to knit some more....

The light bulb is finally on!!!

I got it, I got it, I got it!!!!!! It has finally sunk in and I am off and running with my first pair of socks. I have finally passed the gussett and now I am knitting the foot. I have no idea of why it took me so long to understand how to knit up the gussett. All I know is that I do understand what I am doing now and I am so happy!!!! I may have my family members thier pair of socks by Christmas instead of just their one sock!! :0) i know Zonda is breathing a huge sigh or relief right now and is thinking it's about time that something has finally sank in with me. :0)

Am I really that stupid!!!!????

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am finally at the gussett of one of my many pairs of socks. My buddy Zonda showed me how to pick up the stitches at the gussett and I did fairly well on that part. But oh boy, when it came time to start the knitting on needle 1 and 2, with row 1 and 2 I became so confused. Instep, heel, needles 1 and 2. It was all overwhelming to me. My head started to spin. Zonda showed me, told me, and even drew me a picture of what I needed to do and it still it did not click. We were both laughing over the fact that I could not grasp the concept. I have no clue on why I am having such a hard time with this, but I am determined to do this. I have got to, I have 5 pairs of socks to knit for family members for Christmas. Maybe I'll just give them each 1 sock and let them know that maybe they wll get the matching pair for Christmas 2008; :0)

Michele has met her match!!!

Holy cow. I swear that I am going to come unglued at any moment. I am trying very hard to get 5 pairs of socks sone for family members for Christmas. Everything was going good....Until yesterday that was. I must have hit a snag or a sock fart because I could not do anything right yesterday.
I was knitting the heel portion and was doing ok then somehow the heel was the size of a dime. So Zonda to the rescue...She undid my mess up and fixed it for me. So tonight again with the same sock I still could't get anything happening. I swear I am going to have a nevous breakdown. So once again Zonda not only undid my mess but also finshed my heel for me. Zonda knows how anal I am and how hard it was for me to admit that I was totally defeated by a damn sock.
So I was wondering what the deal was with me and this one sock. I am knitting 3 other pairs as well and never had any problems with them before so why now all of a sudden am I having a hard time. Then it came to me out of nowhere, making perfect sence. This yellow and orange sock was going to be my sister Michele's sock. I love my sister dearly but Michele can be difficult at times causing me stress just like this sock is doing. This sock was destined to be Michele's from the start and the sock wanted me to know it!!!

Preemie hats

These are just some of the preemie baby hats that I am knitting. Once I am through, I will be bringing them to the NICU at Cape Fear Valley Hospital for all the preemies to enjoy.

I love my dad. I had wanted a swifter for awhile now and had enlisted my friend Zonda to help me get one. Zonda sent me several sites that showed how to make a swifter. It looked like something that my dad could handle. So I emailed him the links and pictures. I was getting worried necause I hadn't seen him make this for me. So it was a week until my birthday and I decided that I would send him one last picture with a nice message that if he loved me that he would make this for me for my birthday. :0) Well it worked. On my birthday my father handed me this beautiful swift. He did a super job on it and I love him dearly for doing this for me!!!! Love ya Dad!!

This is my finshed earflap hat. I must admit that it does look good. I do not know if I can bear to part with it. Guess I'd better hurry up and knit one for myself or sister will not get it.

This is my hat project half finished. I was able to knit about 4 more rows but now I need some double point needles in a size 15 in order to finish it. As soon as I get the double points it will take now time at all to complete. I must say that it is looking pretty good. Hope my sister will like it.

Sheep

This is my favorite sheep in the entore world. her name is bo-bo. I met her through a friend whose friend has a farm out in the country. I love this face......Who couldn't.

My first blog ever

Hey there eveyone. This is my very first blog so be patient with me. This is all new to me and I am sure that I will make many many mistakes along the way. I am so excited about this cause I get to share with you guys my love of knittting. I first started knitting about 3 years ago. I took Saturday lessons for over a year at The market. (which is noe closed) and fell in love with it. I have been doing it ever since.. I get hell from some of my buddies and family members, but in the end they all are amazed by what I can knit. I am by far a great knitter. I consider myself a good knitter with ALOT to learn, and learn I do. But I have great friends like Zonda and Marlena that help me out whenevr I need it. Ans just ask Zonda how often I need help. :0) Both of which have their own blog so check out their blogs as well. Zonda is my awesome awesome knitting buddy, she knows so much about yarn that it is unreal. If it wan't for her I would be so lost. So thanks Zonda... Marlena is my crocheting buddy. She does so many cool crocheted items that would blow your mind away. We are in the middle of a swap. Malrena is crocheting me some pink bunny slippers and I am knitting her some felted clog slippers. I do feel bad cause I only have 1 slipper done. But she knows that the other one will be done some time before Christmas. HAHAHA.
I plan on posting some pictures of my many projects that I have going on. I have many projects going on at this time. Any knitter knows that you can not have just 1 project, you must have many at one time that you are working on.
Again I am so excited to have this blog so that I can make new knitting friends and share some pictures and stories of my knitting adventures.
Until next time, go sit and knit!!!
